Located approximately 54 km northwest of St. Albans in South Central Newfoundland, the Great Burnt Copper-Gold Project is situated in one of the world’s premier mining and exploration regions. The project benefits from excellent infrastructure, including year-round access via a government-maintained all-weather road serving nearby hydro dam facilities, one of which is located within the project area.
The Great Burnt Project hosts significant exploration potential, targeting copper, gold, nickel, and zinc deposits, with additional prospects identified for ongoing exploration efforts.
Acquisition and Joint Venture
Benton Resources acquired the Great Burnt Copper-Gold Project from Homeland Nickel Inc. (formerly Spruce Ridge Resources Ltd.) in September 2023. In July 2024, Benton entered a 70%-30% joint venture agreement with Homeland, with both companies funding their respective shares of expenditures. Benton is the designated project operator.
Exploration Progress
Since acquiring the project, Benton has made substantial advancements, including:
- Establishing a fully operational exploration camp.
- Compiling and analyzing extensive historical data.
- Discovering new surface targets through prospecting, mapping, and trenching.
- Conducting soil sampling and detailed ground magnetic surveys.
- Performing two deep electromagnetic conductivity surveys.
- Completing 18,492 meters of drilling, significantly expanding the Great Burnt Copper Deposit and the South Pond Copper-Gold Deposit.
These efforts underscore Benton’s commitment to advancing the Great Burnt Copper-Gold Project, unlocking its full resource potential (See image 1)
